Healthcare Coding & Billing Institute (HCBI) was founded in 2011, to cater to an
increased demand for certified medical coders and billing professionals in the Philippine
business process outsourcing industry. The need for increased digitization of health
records for billing and healthcare quality auditing mandated by recent US legislation
prompted healthcare organizations to look to offshore entities that can provide
accurate, fast and cost-efficient ways to process medical records. Meanwhile, there
is a huge supply of highly educated healthcare professionals that are most suited
for these jobs here in the Philippines, but no local institution for them to obtain
training and certification. HCBI was thus founded to address this need.
HCBI is an affiliate of Pinoy Data Capture Inc. (PDC),
a leading software, data conversion, encoding, medical data entry and claims processing
services agency. PDC has a 15-year track record of providing fast, efficient and
accurate services to US and local clients.
HCBI has been authorized by the American
Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) to administer their certification
examinations. AAPC is a leading organization of professional coders in the US that
credentials medical coders for physician practices, hospitals, and other categories
of billing and coding professions. AAPC has accredited only two sites outside the
US to administer their exams, and HCBI is one of them.
Our CPC® certification course includes everything you will need to prepare for and take the
CPC® board exam. Unlike many college-based coder training programs that can cost tens of
thousands of US dollars and do not include the actual AAPC exam and review period, we offer
a more complete package at a small fraction of the price of college-based programs.

MARIO L. FERNANDEZ, MBA
CEO, PDC Group of Companies
Mr. Fernandez obtained his MBA from the Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern
University, in 1979. He served in key positions in strategic planning, marketing
and investment banking for top US companies such as Abbott Laboratories, The Andersons,
and Dean Witter from 1979 to 1994, aside from maintaining his own restaurant business.
He went back to his native Philippines in 1994 where he was Marketing Head for Bayantel
and Head of Landline Installations for Islacom. In 1997, Mr. Fernandez founded Pinoy
Data Capture Inc., one of the pioneers in the Philippine BPO industry. PDC has been
going strong since its foundation, serving US-based clients in data processing,
database management, and software development. In 2011, Mr. Fernandez founded the
latest addition to his companies, Healthcare Coding & Billing Institute.
FRIEDA FERNANDEZ, MBA
COO, Pinoy Data Capture
Ms. Fernandez obtained her MBA from the Asian Institute of Management in 2003. She
has served as COO of PDC since its inception and has helped propel the company to
its current status as one of the leaders in the non-voice BPO industry in the Philippines.
