Jason VandenAkker

President and CEO, AAPC


An experienced healthcare leader, he takes the rudder of a rapidly growing organization whose members are adapting to a tumultuously changing industry. Jason comes from UnitedHealth Group (UHG), where he was Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Optum's Complex Medical Conditions business.


He also held other executive leadership roles in UHG's Consumer Business, Strategy & Business Development, Decision Support, and Wellness units. Before UHG, he worked in professional services as an associate at both MedEquity Capital and The Parthenon Group. He began his career at Oculus Technologies.


He has a B.S. in Economics and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Utah and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Dan Schwebach

Vice President, Practice Management(Managing Director), AAPC


Dan has over 10 years of consulting and management experience with regionally and nationally recognized physician group practices. As a consultant, Dan has been responsible for managing numerous engagements focusing on performance improvement of practice operations, financial turnaround strategy and execution, physician compensation design, business development and revenue cycle redesign.


Prior to joining AAPC Client Services, Dan was a manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers Physician Practice Group where he provided professional services to multi-specialty group practices and faculty practice plans across the country.


He holds a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University.

Rhonda Buckholtz, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, CGSC, COBGC, CPEDC, CENTC

Vice President of ICD-10 Education and Training, AAPC


Rhonda Buckholtz has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, working in the reimbursement, billing, and coding sectors, in addition to being an instructor. She is responsible for all ICD-10 training and curriculum at AAPC. She has authored many articles for health care publications and has spoken at conferences across the country. She is co-chair for the WEDI ICD-10 Implementation Workgroup and has provided testimony ongoing for ICD-10 and standardization of data for NCVHS. She also sits on the Provider Outreach and Education committee for Novitas Solutions (formerly Highmark Medicare Services).

Dr. Josefina Lauchangco

President, Healthcare Information Management Outsourcing Association of the Philippines Managing Director, American Academy for Medical Transcription


Dr. Josefina “Penny” Lauchangco is a founding member of the American Academy of Medical Transcription, Inc. (AAMT) and has been part of the medical transcription industry since 2001. As AAMT board member, she is also among the industry experts who have contributed to talent development and training regulation programs such as TESDA’s medical transcription and medical coding and billing. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of HIMOAP, acting as the head of the talent development committee, before she assumed the presidency of the organization. Dr. Lauchangco has been in private practice as a dentist since 1993.
